Curious what the busy mom’s secret to grocery shopping is? It’s super easy, saves a ton of time, and is perfect for everyone!

Towards the end of pregnancy, I was hurting real bad. I wasn’t just waddling, I was shuffling. I could barely lift my feet and walk more than the length of our house without hurting. So grocery shopping with an almost 4-year-old and a 2-year-old was out of the question. I physically could not do it. I decided to try out H-E-B Curbside, H-E-B‘s grocery pickup service. It was amazing, super easy, and I didn’t even have to walk into the store to get all of my groceries. I was sold.
Now that little man is here and I’m a new mom of three under 5, there’s no way we are going grocery shopping on our own. Little R has colic, so any time he sleeps I am frantically working to get everything done around the house that I need to. I don’t want to spend that precious nap time grocery shopping, and there’s no way I can fit everyone in a cart and still have room for groceries anyway. It just isn’t going to happen. Needless to say, we are still using (and are very grateful for) H-E-B Curbside.
H-E-B Curbside is the busy mom’s secret to grocery shopping. Let me tell you how it works and why it’s something I think all moms should try at least once (but you’ll probably get hooked after just once!).
First you order online. This is the part that takes the longest, but it’s super easy and it’s also very convenient because it basically eliminates impulse-buys. You just type in what you want (like “milk”) and then all the different brands and sizes of milk pop up. I like this a lot because it’s easy to see all the products available and it’s even easier to compare prices between brands. Once you’ve added all of your groceries to your cart, you schedule a pick-up time that is convenient for you. There are 30 minute windows for you to choose between 7am and 9pm, so there really is a time that will work for everyone. Then you pay using a credit card and voila! You have just ordered your groceries! Last week when I ordered my groceries I even did it while babywearing my colicky newborn! Convenient!
Between when you order your groceries and when you pick them up, you get texts and emails about the status of your order. I love this feature. I love knowing that my order was received and will be ready at the right time. If there are any substitutions, they also text you to ask what you would like instead. One time they didn’t have the apples I had ordered and they texted me to see if a different kind was okay. It was awesome.
Second, you drive to the store and pick up your groceries. This is definitely the best part of H-E-B Curbside! The San Antonio store we went to had the H-E-B Curbside part on the side of H-E-B plus!.
We pulled up into one of the numbered stalls, texted our number to the H-E-B number, and out came a super nice girl to confirm it was me picking up our groceries. She went back inside to grab the groceries and I opened the trunk of my car (the only time I had to get out of my car the whole time!).
Little A had a fever and was looking pretty miserable the day we picked up our groceries, so it was nice to be able to have all three kids stay in the car. The H-E-B worker brought the groceries out, loaded them up in the back of my car, and we were done! It took less than 5 minutes from the time we pulled in to the time we left. It was easy, fast, convenient, and the perfect way to get my groceries as a busy mom!
I love H-E-B Curbside and think it’s definitely the busy mom’s secret to grocery shopping. I would recommend it to everyone, even if you don’t have kids and even if you’re single! Everyone is busy and if you can save time using H-E-B Curbside to get your groceries, you should do it! You can check out the H-E-B website to find a location near you. There are currently 21 H-E-B stores that offer curbside service, so hopefully there’s one near you! Check it out!

I’ve never seen anything like this curbside service in Florida! It’s so cool that they have designated parking spots for the curbside service and put the groceries in your trunk for you! I hope this idea comes my direction soon!

I hope it does too! It is one of the best ideas a company has had in along time!

Wow! This is the first time I’m hearing about this. This would be so helpful, especially you’re right, to moms who can’t exactly make a grocery trip easy. I remember when I had my twins, there was no way I could push their double stroller AND the cart, and I couldn’t put both of them in the cart, either. I basically just had to find some other time to shop, but this is truly amazing for the grocery store to do this!

Oh my goodness, it’s fabulous! I can’t imagine trying to bring a stroller and push a grocery cart!!

The past few months, I would just wait until Justin came home to go grocery shopping. But now that Evelyn is almost 4 months old and loves to look around, and I love getting out of the house, I always go grocery shopping.

Smart! I love getting out of the house, too, so we’ve been trying to take more walks instead!
