Why you should let your toddler choose their own books and how to get free books this summer! Love this post! It’s so true!

Whether it’s at the library, the bookstore, or from your own bookshelf, letting your toddler choose their own books is a great idea. Not only does it prevent tantrums, but it helps encourage your child’s independence and fosters a love of reading early on. When you let your toddler choose their own books, you are helping make reading a happy habit at home!
I’ve mentioned it a few times before, but the Fantastic Scholastic Book Giveaway is currently going on in Walmart stores everywhere, and we love it. It’s such an easy way to get free books, and it’s a great way to let your toddler choose their own books! One box of participating Kellogg’s products equals one book, and it’s super easy to redeem, especially if you’re already used uploading receipts and sending them through other rewards programs like IBOTTA or EBates.
There are only three steps to redeeming your free books! First, buy a participating Kellogg’s product, second send a picture of the receipt via text (to 89332 with keyword BOOK) or email (to book@kfr.com), and then last, you get a free book credit to redeem for a free book of your choice at www.KFR.com/FreeScholasticBook!
After a recent trip to Walmart where I purchased a few Kellogg’s products, I texted pictures of my receipt and got a few free book credits. Since I believe in the importance of letting your children choose their own books, I let my kids each pick out a book. There are over 80 full-length Scholastic titles for beginning readers to teens, and you can collect up to 90 titles to build your home library.
Having a home library is spurs a child to stay in school three years longer than a peer without access to books, so we work hard to build up our library. I want my kids to have tons of books that they can choose to inspire them!
My kids were thrilled when their books arrived because they had picked them out themselves. It was fun reading them together, and I know that because they had chosen them on their own, they loved them even more.
The Fantastic Scholastic Book Giveaway is such a simple way to build up your home library and get rewarded for things you’re probably already buying! You have to purchase products by 9/30/17, send the receipt by 10/30/17, and redeem your credits by 11/30/17, so make sure you get to Walmart in the next few weeks to participate in the program!
